Showroom / Design clients include Renee Zellwegger, Sharon Stone, Josh Groban, Jessica & Ashley Simpson, Barbra Streisand, and St. Regis Residences. Steve Hodges is the principal in the firm of Steve Hodges Associates, Inc., a Lexington, NC furniture design firm. A free-lance designer since 1975, Mr. Hodges has designed bedroom, dining room, occasional and upholstery in all styles and price points for many of the leading furniture manufacturers in North America. Hodges holds the B. F. A. in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University and a diploma in Furniture Design from the Kendall School of Design. He has served frequently as a director and officer of the American Society of Furniture Designers since 1982. Hodges is the current president of ASFD and a member of the Industrial Designers society of America, and the Furniture History Society. He has written extensively and is a frequent speaker to numerous industry associations and trade groups on the subject of furniture design. His writings have appeared in Furniture/Today, FDM, Wood & Wood Products and Modern Woodworking. Steve Hodges Associates was the recipient of the ASFD Pinnacle Award in the Bedroom category in 1999 and 2004.
Mark McMenamin is senior editor at Interior Design magazine. For the past two decades, McMenamin has acted as writer, reporter and/or editor for various publications including InFurniture, HFN and Home Accents Today, and his authority on style and business trends have been featured in publications such as The New York Times and USA Today. His awards include the American Furniture Manufacturers Association’s Home Award for journalistic excellence, and Fairchild Publications’ B2B Impact Award. McMenamin graduated with a degree in journalism from Temple University in Philadelphia.
Tim Schelfe, ASID, has recently been elected to the National Board of ASID as a Director at Large and will work in administering the needs of over 40,000 ASID members worldwide. Previously he was President of the ASID Carolinas Chapter. Tim has over 25 years of Interior Design experience and has had his own design firm for 11 years. His work has been published in Renovation Style, Better Homes and Gardens, Carolina Homes & Interiors and Wakefield Living magazines. He also helped design one of the Southern Living idea Houses for 2003. Tim has been awarded 19 Interior Design Specialty Awards from the ASID Carolinas Chapter for his custom residential, retail, hospitality and commercial design work. Tim is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park.
Howard Shattuck, Maitland-Smith Historian, joined Maitland-Smith in 1989 and worked with the company founders and learned first hand the historic background and fascinating details of every Maitland-Smith piece. Howard’s knowledge and entertaining, informative discussion style help customers understand why so many Maitland-Smith products are considered collector’s items. Howard’s background is in art education. His interest led to work as a lighting stylist and as an expert in furniture design and history. He has worked in the U. S. and in Asia with Maitland-Smith craftsmen as a designer and technical advisor. Combining his love of design and handcrafted quality with his knowledge of furniture history, in general, and of Maitland-Smith in particular, Howard is a truly qualified, genuinely absorbing spokesman for the uniqueness that is Maitland-Smith.
