At Maitland-Smith, we are celebrating our award-winning showing during the fall International Home Furnishings Market, the pre-eminent home furnishings event in the world.

Moreover, as the days grow shorter and the crisp winds of autumn give way to Jack Frost, we are preparing for the time-honored traditions of the holiday season, the perfect occasion to reflect upon the importance of family, friends and home. To this end, in the spirit of the season, Maitland-Smith is proud to donate a portion of our furniture market revenues to the American Red Cross, which cares for so many in need around the globe.

With the hustle and bustle of meetings with buyers, designers, trend experts and editors, furniture market is always eventful, fast-paced and at times, intense. So, it is wonderfully rewarding to be singled out for design excellence among the thousands of others as the “best of the best” by Brian Casey, president and chief executive officer of the High Point Market Authority.

Most notably, we are pleased Maitland-Smith was among the chosen few to receive one of the first-ever Showroom Design and Merchandising Ideas awards. Judged by the foremost authorities from the leading home and furniture publications, including O at Home and Veranda, we were especially privileged to receive the “Consumer Allure” award for our showroom’s visual appeal, orchestrated by accomplished visual designer Minoo Hinman. Refined, sumptuous and inviting, our opulent East West Passage bedroom offering, pictured below, is pure indulgence, blending the grace and sophistication of old world charm with modern luxury.

Not ones to rest on our laurels, our design and trend teams are always searching the world over for heirloom quality décor, perfect for your home or for an unforgettable decorative gift for that special someone you may want to surprise. Featured in this month’s Curator’s Chronicles, our Roman neoclassic-inspired solid brass dolphin and shell soap dish, designed by the world’s most talented artisans using the lost wax casting technique, is an ideal choice.

In TrendWatch, we focus on the well-established “hiving” trend, the preference among Americans to spend time with family and friends in the comfort of our homes. And with that nesting appeal comes the demand for home theater and game rooms—the perfect entertaining spaces for our handsome yet functional gaming tables, chairs, and media cabinets.

Whether you are nostalgic for the celebrations of yesteryear or excited about creating new traditions, we hope that Maitland-Smith’s fine furnishings make you feel right at home for the holidays.

From all of us at Maitland-Smith, we wish you and yours a wonderful holiday season.
