Hyde Park Finished Mahogany Tripod Based Center Table, Mixed Veneer Parquetry Top

Item: 3530-090

This handsome center table gains its detailed design from period Baroque originals. The Baroque style had great influence throughout 17th and 18th century Western Europe. France, Austria, Spain, Portugal and Holland were particularly taken by the fashion. From its inception, as with most fine things of the time, the style was associated with the church and the royals. The lines and forms of this table are High Baroque, a complete arrangement of elements sympathetically assembled to create an imposing object. The table has a poise and presence typical of the style. The generous use of finely cast brass mounts adds to the visual appeal and casts the table into the realm of the very best workmanship of the Baroque era.

The most notable feature is the hand inlaid mixed wood marquetry top. The top is composed of select exacting veneers in a radiating sunburst pattern. The hand carved molding at the table’s edge is highlighted by hand applied broken gold leaf.
